EA Moves AI Can’t Touch

Your Exec doesn’t need another bot. They need you.

AI is smart, but it’s not human-smart. It can churn out drafts, tidy up data, and pull together a decent itinerary, but it can’t read the room, build trust, or sense when your exec is two meetings away from burnout. If we use AI as a tool instead of a threat, and keep centering our work on human connection, we stay essential. Here are five quick moves to remind everyone exactly why an EA is irreplaceable.

1) The One-Page Power Brief

Executives don’t want six Slack threads and a deck that needs a PhD to decode. They want a single page that tells them what matters and what to do next. Try boiling the noise down into: what happened, so what it means, and now what needs a decision. It’s ten minutes of work that makes you the person who brings clarity when everyone else is overcomplicating things.

2) Run Your Own Prompt Lab

Here’s the secret to getting good AI output: it’s all in the ask. Instead of typing one vague prompt and settling for “meh,” test three quick versions on the same task, whether it’s drafting an email, recapping a meeting, or writing travel notes. Keep a tiny log of what worked best. Do this once and you'll save yourself (and your exec) hours down the line, and bonus, you look like the in-house AI expert.

3) Automate One Annoyance

You don’t need to Zapier your whole company overnight. Just pick one chore you never want to touch again, like filing receipts, pushing calendar items into tasks, or tagging inbox clutter, and see how you can automate it. Ten minutes today, dozens of reclaimed minutes every week.

4) Nudge a Relationship Back to Life

AI can’t rebuild trust with a stakeholder or remember the last time your Exec actually spoke to them. You can. Look at your network, find one relationship that’s gone quiet, and set up a short catch-up. Add a human touch, like acknowledging a recent win or milestone, and you’ve just kept the wheels of influence turning in a way no tool ever could.

5) The 90-Second Ethics Check

Before you drop another process into an AI tool, hit pause and do a super quick check. Ask yourself: Is this data too sensitive? Who else will see it? And do we need a human review step? Mark it red, amber, or green, then tweak where needed. It takes less than two minutes, but it positions you as someone who uses AI responsibly.

Whispr Flow

Flow by Wispr turns spoken thoughts into clear, structured text and can recognise over 100 languages. Unlike older dictation tools, it automatically edits out filler words and learns your personal vocabulary, so names, project terms, and shortcuts are remembered. For Assistants, it can be useful when you need to capture meeting notes quickly, draft messages hands-free, or organize ideas on the go without being tied to a keyboard.

Goal-Setting Challenge

This week, your challenge is to test one small way you can pair AI with your human edge, so you save time on the tech side and double down on the people side.

Step 1: Pick your task
Look at your week. Is there a long report to distill, a tricky email draft, or a stakeholder who needs a nudge? Choose one spot where AI could speed things up.

Step 2: Choose your tool
Decide where to run it: ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, or whatever’s built into your workflow. Don’t stall on picking; the best tool is the one you’ll actually open.

Step 3: Pair it with your judgment
Run the task through AI, but don’t stop there. Edit for context, check the tone, and add the personal touches only you can bring. Example: take an AI-drafted follow-up email and add a line that references a colleague’s recent win.

Step 4: Notice the difference
Compare the AI-only version with your final version. You’ll see how tech can clear the busywork while your human connection makes the output land. That’s the combo that works really well.
